About the Movie

In „Silent Running,“ a 1970s sci-fi gem, the Earth is a barren wasteland, and the last remaining plant life is being preserved in giant, dome-like spaceships. Bruce Dern stars as Freeman Lowell, the ship’s botanist, who goes full plant dad when the crew decides to abandon the project and destroy the domes. So, what does he do? He decides to go rogue and protect his leafy buddies. Enter Dewey, one of three adorably clunky, somewhat chatty drones. Dewey, with his beeping charm and incessant helpfulness, becomes Lowell’s quirky sidekick. Together, they try to save the plants and navigate the challenges of space, while Dewey proves that even in a high-stakes interstellar drama, a good robot can steal the show with a well-timed beep or two.
